West Cumbria Bowls Leagues: Whitehaven lose 100 percent record as Cleator Moor go top

Whitehaven A lost their 100 percent record in the West Cumbria Fours League and Cleator Moor top the Triples League.

The fixtures continue to throw entertaining fixtures out in the West Cumbria Leagues as all teams are now into the action.

West Cumbria Fours League

Whitehaven A had their lead cut to three on Friday, May 8, as they won 5-2 against their B team.

Cleator Moor picked up a close 7-0 win over Maryport as Workington A beat their B team 7-0.

Seaton left Harris Park with a 7-0 win and Fitz Park moved up to fourth with a 7-0 win at Vulcan Park.

The top three are all on the road on May 15, as Whitehaven A travel to Maryport as Cleator Moor head to Whitehaven B and Workington A make a short trip to Seaton.

Workington B host Vulcan Park and Harris Park go to Keswick to play Fitz Park.

West Cumbria Mixed Triples League

Seaton got their season underway on Tuesday, May 5 with a 8-1 defeat at home to Wigton, who moved into second.

Whitehaven A dropped to fourth as they lost 5-4 to Croft and Workington A took third with a 6-3 win at home to Harris Park A.

Cleator Moor went top with a 9-0 win at home to Egremont while Vulcan Park B went down 9-0 at home to Whitehaven B.

Vulcan Park A lost 7-2 at Maryport while Seascale won 5-4 at home to Workington B.

On Tuesday, May 12, leaders Cleator Moor host Whitehaven A in one of the more intriguing matches of the round while Wigton welcome Harris Park B and Workington A welcome Seascale who took points off their B team.

Whitehaven B play Workington B and will be looking to take advantage of any points dropped by their A team, Vulcan Park A welcome Egremont as Vulcan Park B make a short trip to Seaton and the second Cockermouth derby of the season takes place as Harris Park A take on Croft.

Cumbria County Teams

Cumbria’s Alsop team got underway on Saturday, May 9, as they welcomed Northumberland to Silloth where playerrs from around the counties leagues came together.

On a cold and blustery day it was the visitors who left happier with an 8-14 win despite the Cumbrian winning on four of the six rinks.

The next match has Cumbria traveling to Bolton to face Lancashire on Saturday, May 23.
