Cumbria Police is appealing for information after a man sustained serious injuries during an assault in Workington.

The incident occurred on Washington Street, at around 4:50am Sunday, May 10.

Police said the victim was punched by an unknown man.

The victim, a man in his 20s, remains in hospital.

A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said: “At this stage the suspect has not been identified and officers are conducting extensive enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident.

“Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the assault or may have relevant footage which could assist this investigation.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police online here or call 101, quoting incident number 26 of 10 May.
