Lakes College is celebrating the achievements of its T Level and Level 3 students, with learners securing university places, progressing towards their chosen careers and taking their next steps into further study and employment.

The college is also celebrating a 100 percent university success rate, with all 49 students who chose to progress to university securing a place.

Principal and CEO Mark Fell said: “Congratulations to all of our T Level and Level 3 students receiving their results today.

“This marks the end of one important chapter, but more importantly, the beginning of an exciting new one, whether that is progressing to university, moving into an apprenticeship or taking that first step into the world of work.

“We are incredibly proud of our students, not only for what they have achieved today, but for the hard work, determination and resilience they have shown throughout their time at Lakes College.

“I’d also like to thank our fantastic staff who support and inspire our students every day.

“Whatever comes next, we wish every one of our students the very best for their future and look forward to seeing where their next chapter takes them.”

There was a double celebration for T Level Education and Early Years students Kate Davis and Niamh McKean, who both achieved Distinctions.

Kate is heading to Leeds Beckett University and Niamh to Edge Hill University, with both planning to study primary education.

Kate said: “I am delighted with my results and so excited to move to university and start my course.

“I want to be a primary school teacher, and studying this course has helped me get closer to achieving that goal.”

Among those celebrating is also T Level Business student Mason Todd, who achieved a Merit and completed two industry placements during his course.

He hopes to pursue a career in marketing.

He said: “I am really proud of my results. I really enjoyed the course and I’m so pleased with what I have achieved.

“The industry placements were a great part of the course because they gave me the opportunity to experience what it is like to work in a real business environment.”

T Level Health (NHS Cadets) student Ryan Tinnion is heading to the University of Cumbria to study Physiotherapy after achieving his results.

Ryan completed his industry placement at West Cumberland Hospital and particularly enjoyed gaining hands-on experience in a real healthcare setting.

He said: “I’m really happy with my results and excited about what comes next. My placement at West Cumberland Hospital was a great experience and gave me the chance to see what working in healthcare is really like.”

Neve Finn also achieved a Merit in Education and Early Years and will study primary education at the University of Cumbria.

She completed her industry placement at her former primary school.

She said: “It’s been two years of hard work and I’m really pleased with my results. I’m so grateful to the teaching staff and the college.”

Level 3 Health and Social Care student Kate Tomlinson achieved a Grade B and will study psychology at Manchester Metropolitan University, while Danny Randall, who achieved a Grade C, is considering university or employment, with ambitions to work in drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

T Levels are two-year technical qualifications, equivalent to three A Levels, combining classroom study with a substantial industry placement.

They are designed with employers to give learners the knowledge, skills and experience needed for the workplace.

As students celebrate their achievements, Lakes College wishes them every success as they begin the next chapter of their journey.
