The countdown is on for the new Glow Trail event at Lowther Castle and Gardens to support hospice care.
Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Children’s Hospice, are inviting the community to come together for their brand-new fundraising event, Glow Trail.
The final date for signing up has been announced as August 31.

Eleanor Viney, Head of Income Generation, at Eden Valley Hospice, said: “Glow Trail is a very special opportunity for our community to come together for an evening that is uplifting, memorable and full of meaning.
“Whether someone takes part to remember a loved one, support their local hospice, or simply enjoy a magical experience with family and friends, every step they take and every pound they raise will help us continue providing compassionate care to local families when they need it most.
“We would love to see the community get behind this brand-new event and help us light the way for hospice care.”
Taking place at Lowther Castle and Gardens on Saturday, September 12, 2026. At 6.00pm (18:00), registration will open with the walk beginning at 8.00pm (20:00)
During this time, the Lowther Castle and Gardens cafe will be open for light refreshments, and participants will be able to get themselves glowing at dedicated glow stations.
Participants will complete two gentle laps of the trail, up to 6km, at sunset, passing illuminated glow features, live entertainment and dedicated remembrance points designed to help people reflect, remember and celebrate loved ones.

The purpose is to bring the community together to raise much-needed funds to help the hospice continue providing specialist care and support to local adults, children and families.
Entry is just £20 to cover the cost of running the event, with under 12s going free.
Any donations or fundraising on top of this sum will be what funds hospice care.
Participants will also have access to fundraising support before and on the day, including a link to the hospice’s online fundraising page, sponsor forms and practical fundraising guidance.
Those who sign up will receive a fundraising pack including event guidance and a remembrance ribbon to dedicate to a loved one.
Remembrance opportunities and T-shirts will also be available, with the space to personalise a message for those walking in memory of loved ones.

A spokesperson on behalf of Lowther Castle & Gardens said: “2026 marks the year when the castle returns to the world of staging events and we are delighted that one of our first will be the Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw Glow Trail.
“We are keen to show our support for important local charities and look forward to a moving and uplifting occasion where the past and present combine to do something good for the future.”
Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw rely on the support of the local community to fund 80 percent of their running costs, with just 20 percent supported by NHS funding.
Every fundraiser, donation and act of kindness helps make compassionate, dignified care possible for people with life-limiting conditions and those closest to them.
By taking part in Glow Trail, supporters will be funding care and compassion for families at some of the most difficult times in their lives.
You can sign up on the website here before August 31.
