Country by the Castle came back bigger and better as Muncaster Castle saddled up for two days of music.

The festival returned for its second year and with the addition of a second stage it came back with a bang on Friday, July 17 and Saturday 18.

With the second stage attendees enjoyed performances from a huge variety of some of the most exciting artists in the UK country music scene.

The festival’s Ranch Stage host, Kym Armstrong-Campbell said: “The atmosphere throughout Muncaster across the whole weekend was brilliant.

“It was really exciting to have such an array of talent on display, especially from so many up-and-coming artists.

“The performers enjoyed themselves as much as the audience.

“Muncaster definitely has some new super fans in the country world.”

Headliners included Katy Hurt, who returned to the festival for a second year, this time with a full band to deliver a show stopping performance on Friday night.

While Emilia Quinn and Outpost Drive took the Ranch Stage by storm for an unforgettable set on the castle front lawn on Saturday. 

It also showcased the wealth of homegrown talent to be found right here in Cumbria, with performances from Cumbrian groups and artists like Mountain Ash and Grace Price.

Festival attendees not only enjoyed a weekend of fantastic music, there was also plenty for them to get involved in.

After being a hit at the first edition of the festival last year, line dancing workshops were back, as people put their dancing boots on to strut their stuff.

Alongside the usual sessions in crossbow, archery, and axe-throwing in The Weapons Hall, attendees got to see if they had what it takes to be a true cowboy.

The Wildcat Saloon Shooting Range offered the chance to put their aim to the test.

While the mechanical bull really put people through their paces, and produced as much chaos as you might imagine.

It was a fantastic weekend filled with great music, dancing, food, drink, and glorious sunshine.

Country by the Castle 2027 is already in the works so get practicing your two step and keep your eyes peeled.

Muncaster’s next event is Owl Day on 4 August.
