“Opens on Wednesday, July 22, just in time for the school summer holidays.
“Entry is free.”
The Armitt Museum, in Ambleside was named for, and after, Mary Louisa Armitt who wished that there would be ‘a place for academic and booklovers and eventually a museum might be made that should illustrate the life of Ambleside, through the long past to the present.’
Today the museum holds work by German artist Kurt Schwitters, educator Charlotte Mason and Beatrix Potter’s other work on fungi, farming and much more.
The Armitt currently has three exhibitions running, Club Culture Cumbria, Modern Day Martineau and An A-Z of Beatrix Potter.
The Beatrix Potter exhibition is at 148 Queen Street, Whitehaven from Wednesday, July 22, to Friday, August 28.
