Country by the Castle doubles the fun with second stage added

Muncaster’s summer of music continues with the return of the Country by the Castle festival with a second stage added.

Back for its second edition from Friday, July 17 to Saturday 18, this fan-favourite festival promises a weekend of music, dancing, food, drink and great atmosphere as Muncaster celebrates the best of the Cumbrian and UK country music scenes.

This year’s festival aims to build on the success of its first year, without losing the friendly and uncommercial atmosphere which made it so popular.

Crowds watch on at Country by the Castle

Muncaster have been working with local country artists to put the festival together and with the addition of a second stage and a dramatically expanded line up, Country by the Castle 2026 is set to be bigger and better than ever.

The line up features some of the most exciting prospects in the Cumbrian and UK country music scenes, with a focus on original music rather than tribute acts.

The festival is a true celebration of a genre on the rise in the area.

This years headliners include Emilia Quinn, who will bring her award winning blend of Americana, folk rock, and blues; along with the UK-US duo Outpost Drive, whose singles have topped the iTunes country music charts.

While Katy Hurt, a favourite from last year, this time returning with her full band; and Mountain Ash, home-grown, Cumbrian country-rock outfit also back by popular demand.

As well as a myriad of other incredibly talented artists.

Mountain Ash will be back at Country by the Castle

Country by the Castle’s offering outside of the musical line up has also expanded for 2026.

There will be a wider variety of food options with Pappy’s Texas BBQ bringing authentic Texan smokehouse flavours, while Charred Kitchen will be serving up delicious, freshly cooked pizzas to keep the party going.

And it wouldn’t be Country by the Castle without the surprise hit of last year’s festival, line dancing.

With opportunities for everyone to get stuck in, let loose, and enjoy a rootin’ tootin’ good time.

If all the country music and food wasn’t enough, attendees can also enjoy many of the unmissable attractions on offer at Muncaster.

These include have-a-go sessions in archery, axe throwing, and crossbow in The Weapons Hall, daily bird of prey flying displays and access to the Hawk & Owl Centre, along with the 77 acres of stunning gardens to explore.

It is a weekend not to miss, tickets are available here.
