Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw Children’s Hospice ‘disappointed’ to discover that £900 worth of copper piping had been stolen.
After a huge project to refresh the hospice’s plumbing, the sale of piping was going to fund 24 hours of care for a patient, an average of £968.27 per room.
Thankfully, for the charity they have clear CCTV which has been shared with Cumbria Police as part of their ongoing investigation.

Julie Clayton, Chief Executive, said: “I am so disappointed that anyone could think a hospice is fair game to target for theft, and I’m so glad our CCTV caught images of the culprits and their van so clearly.
“We will continue to deliver the best quality care to those who need us throughout the local community.”
The Hospice showed compassion and understanding towards the thieves saying that costs are increasing for all those in our community, and we are not immune.
Adding: “We are saddened that a service as vital as the hospice, which brings compassion, dignity and comfort every day to local people, has become a victim of crime.”
The local community quickly came to the Hospice’s financial aid with Contract Flooring making a donation as soon as they heard about the theft.
