The Dalemain World Marmalade Awards has attracted more entries than ever into the Artisan marmalade competition as the Double Gold Winners are announced.
Entries came from Czech, American, Portuguese, Greek, Hawaiian and Taiwanese Artisans among a whole host of other international and UK artisans have sent their entries to Cumbria to be tasted and judged by our hand-picked collection of experts including Will Torrent from Waitrose, Alex Evans of Cumbrian icon Tebay Services, Food Historian Ivan Day and head judge Jane Maggs.

Gold and Double Gold Winners of the Artisan Marmalade Award Winners will collect their prizes from the High Sheriff of Cumbria on April 25, while also having the opportunity to join a workshop lead by Jane Maggs and Pam Corbin.
This year there are three Artisan Double Gold Winners for Traditional, International and Marmalade to be Eaten with Savoury Food.
The winner of the best International Marmalade was Lemon Marmalade by Gela 319 an Artisan business in Japan who, in muptiple rounds of blind tasting of the best golds in the class was chosen for an unprecedented second year running as the winner.
The Traditional Marmalade Double Gold has been won by Bristol based producer Single Variety with their Amalfi Lemon Marmalade and Kudamono Danshi.
An Artisan business in Taiwan came away with the Savoury Double Gold Award for Grapefruit Marmalade with Dried Smoked Longan Gin.
Beatrice Hasell-McCosh, Director of The Dalemain World Marmalade Awards said: “The various ingredients from around the world has been a treat to taste.
“There is a noticeably huge variety of citrus fruit such as Hassaku, Kabosu and Hyuganatsu and new flavours including ghost pepper, strawberry tomato, and gorse flower.
“International entry numbers have increased again making it a hard won fight for the Lemon Marmalade from Gela 319 which has won the International Double Gold Award for a second year running.”

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the awards, a selection of the past few years of Double Gold award winners and Gold winning marmalades from this year and 2024 will be on sale throughout the year at Dalemain Mansion and online.
Jars from around the UK, Taiwan, Germany, Portugal, Japan, the Czech Republic will feature ingredients such as Blood Orange, kumquat, Ume, Yuzu and Welsh Rum.
The Homemade Best in Show winner will be announced then and there will be marmalades to taste and view on display as well as activities and stalls at the festival.
The Awards take place with the generous support of Fortnum & Mason, Westmorland Family, Rathbones and Lycetts.
To date the awards have raised almost £350,000 for Hospice at Home, Carlisle & North Lakeland
