Firearm officers were deployed and a man was arrested following an incident in Cleator Moor.

Cumbria Police were contacted yesterday, August 7, to an incident on Cragg Road, Cleator Moor, at 8:23pm.

Officers were responding to the report of a man seen with an alleged firearm at a property in the area.

Subsequently, a 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm, he remains in police custody.

Firearms officers were deployed as a precaution and a cordon was put in place for the safety of members of the public.
