Egremont Post Office will be officially reopening on the town’s Main Street, this summer.

It was confirmed today, Tuesday, May 23, the new Post Office will be reopening on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.

Egremont Post Office closed back in January this year after Morrisons announced the closure of 132 McColl’s stores across the UK, including the Egremont branch.

Elaine Woodburn, Chair of Egremont Town Council told The Herdwck News: “Quite rightly the town was in uproar when the announcement was made about the the closure of the Egremont PO [Post Office].

“To now hear that all the hard work to fight for the PO’s return has been successful is fantastic.

“A lot of credit must go Brian Skirrow who as previously managed the Egremont PO understood the need and has stood up and agreed to run the service from his existing business.

“The residents now need to play their part and support him and the service which I am sure they will.

“For too long Egremont has been the forgotten town but it is very resilient and determined and with the return of the PO it has again shown that others might try to knock us but we will continue to rise, again we’ll done to all involved.”

It’s new location will be at Egremont Travel, at 43 Main Street, Egremont, Cumbria, CA22 2AD.
