North West Women’s Regional Football Leagues Shaping Up For Dramatic Finale

The tables in the North West Women’s Regional Football Leagues continues to shape up to a nail biting finale at both ends of the tables as the countdown to the end of the season continues.

The lead of the Premier Division changed hands again as FC United beat Salford City 4-2 to move a point clear on April 9.

Curzon Ashton closed the gap to second with a 5-0 win over Darwen and fourth placed Cheadle beat Blackpool 8-0 to keep pace with Curzon.

In mid-table Fleetwood won 4-0 against West Didsbury as Mossley Hill lost 0-8 to Tranmere.

FC United can increase their lead at the top when they travel to Fleetwood Town on April 16.

Fourth placed Cheadle Town host Mossley, Darwen face West Didsbury and Blackburn take on Tranmere.

The match is set to kickoff at 2pm (14:00).

In Division One North midweek matches followed the weekends fixtures.

The Cumbrian derby between Workington and Carlisle United on April 9 finished 1-1 leaving Workington two points clear of eleventh placed Chorley.

Second placed Blackpool beat Penwortham 4-2 as Bolton picked up a 2-0 win over Accrington.

Blackpool pick up their second win of the week on Tuesday April 11 with an 8-2 victory over Bolton to move five points from top.

Penwortham were back in action on Wednesday April 12 with a 1-7 loss to Preston North End.

All three of Cumbria’s sides are in action on April 16 with Penrith hosting Penwortham Town while Workington face second place Blackpool.

Carlisle United are on the road to third placed Preston North End and Bolton Wanderers take on Sir Tom Finney.

All fixtures are a 2pm (14:00) kickoff.

In Division One South the four teams involved on April 2 could not be separated as Chester drew 1-1 with Warrington Wolves and Hindley were held by Wythenshawe.

Four games on April 16 can have plenty of impact on the league as table toppers Bury host BRNESC while second placed Runcorn face third placed Poulton.

Chester travel to Altrincham and Wythenshawe take on Warrington Wolves.
