Cumbria’s Rugby Union Sides Set To Finish Season

All the hard work during the season comes down to this weekend as teams head towards their final game of the season.

The North West Division the league title came down to the final match on March 18.

At the bottom of the table Kirkby Lonsdale were beaten 7-47 Wirral, Macclesfield won 59-10 Burnage and Stockport shared a 17-17 draw Northwich.

Rossendale secured third with a 38-26 over Sandbach.

Manchester spoiled the party despite losing 28-50 to Blackburn they stoped the title chasing side from scoring the points need to stop Lymm being crowned champions.

In Regional 2 North the final matches started with Consett narrowly beating Durham City 19-18 on Friday March 17.

On Saturday March 18 the season came to an end with Middlesbrough taking a 45-14 win at home to Carlisle, Aspatria lost 17-24 to Morpeth and Northern beat South Shields Westoe 27-8.

Durham City played out their penultimate game with a 64-14 win over Stockton.

Just the one game on March 25 and Percy Park finish their season at home to Consett.

Conference 1 there was only one game on March 18 as Millom beat Egremont 43-31 as Cockermouth had been awarded the points in their game against Wigton.

For four teams they finish their season on March 25 Cockermouth face Whitehaven and Upper Eden travel to Millom before the two face off in the final game of the season, Egremont head to Wigton.

In Conference 2 there was just one games on March 18 as St Benedicts beat Creighton 36-10 as Workington were awarded the points against Silloth.

The rugby got under way early with Penrith II beating Silloth 28-5 on Friday March 24 as Creighton face Hawcoat Park and St Benedicts take on Workington on Saturday March 25.
