Stagecoach has announced its new summer timetable for its Lake District services, making it easier for people to explore the county.

The new ‘Summer Lakes by Bus’ guide for 2023 comes into force on Monday 27 March and covers routes within the Lake District National Park, as well as those that link with the region.

The revised timetables, which enable travellers to hop on and off to explore at their leisure, have been carefully developed to ensure reliability for passengers.

Stagecoach has continued to invest in its services this year too – with new low-emission buses for the 555 service between Keswick and Lancaster launching next month. The new buses will feature significantly cleaner engines, which will help cut carbon emissions, along with wireless charging and table seating – ideal for families.

The number six service between Barrow and Windermere continues to run in 2023, enabling visitors to hop off for a stroll around National Trust-owned Fell Foot Park near Newby Bridge. The bus stop is right at the entrance and of course there will be no parking charges.

According to VisitEngland, the Lake District is set to receive a record number of visitors again this summer, and 88% of these are wanting a nostalgic getaway. What could be more reminiscent of the good old days than a ride on the picturesque open-top 599 route between Bowness and Grasmere?

As the cost of living crisis continues, staycations are expected to be extremely popular this summer, we also look forward to meeting all the first-time visitors.

“Getting around the Lake District by bus is easy and relaxing; take a break from driving and explore the tranquil waters and outstanding scenery of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.”

The Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire Summer 2023 timetable will remain in force until Sunday, November 5 2023.
