By Gary

The newly renovated Parkway cinema in Dunmail Park, Workington is having a double opening.

It’s official opening date, Friday March 17, will have the latest releases on the six screens with DC’s latest superhero epic, Shazam! Fury of the Gods taking centre stage.

Before then with the teachers strike closing schools Parkway has stepped in with the latest new releases with Ant-man & The Wasp, Puss in Boots, Creed III, Avatar, Scream VI and 65 all available on Thursday March 16.

As acting legend Richard Attenborough’s Jurassic Park character John Hammond put it “No expense spared” as the old Plaza site has been transformed with around £4.5 million spent by the new residents Richard and Gerrard Parkes of Parkway Entertainment Company Limited.

The words luxury and radically different describe the look and feel of the new entertainment venue.

The entrance has been fully refurbished in a traditional Art Deco-style with neon lighting running throughout the building.

It is no longer just a cinema as the Foyer is a place people can go to for coffee, cakes and brunch dishes which will be perfect for its Senior Screen on a Tuesday morning, film and a hot drink for £5.

For the first date, date nights or nights out the Foyer will also have a cocktail bar featuring a small menu of movie-themed cocktails, mocktails, beers and wines.

The cinema will still have the 6 cinema screens but the insides have changed with luxury leather electronic recliners, extra leg room, lap table for food and drink, Dolby surround sound and an over haul of the projectors.

The biggest screen will seat over 150 people and the smallest will seat 42 excellent for the parties the venue will be offering.

Tickets for the cinema are available now on the Parkway Cinema website here
