Cumbria’s Rugby Union Sides Look To Finish February With A Bang

Cumbria’s rugby union sides will be looking to head into their final few games on a high with one game left in February.

In North West Division on February 18 Lymm’s was extended despite a 32-36 defeat to Macclesfield as Blackburn lost 14-22 to Sandbach, Rossendale retook third with a 40-12 Burnage and Wirral went down 21-28 to Stockport.

Kendal beat Northwich 38-10 and Kirkby Lonsdale lost 10-47 at home to Manchester.

With the title race still open Lymm start their final three fixtures on February 25 with an away trip to Stockport while Blackburn first of four start with Kirkby Lonsdale at home.

Rossendale face Manchester as Sandbach welcome Macclesfield and Wirral take on Northwich.

In Regional 2 North Penrith stay fourteen points clear with three games left after a 12-48 win at Carlisle on February 18.

Morpeth’s 43-3 win over Keswick keep them within touching distance of the leaders with a game in hand, Northern beat Consett 21-48.

Percy Park won 26-7 against Middlesbrough, Durham City ran out 46-12 winners at home to Aspatria and Stockton won a close game with South Shields Westoe 29-22.

The teams will head into the final month after the final game of February on Saturday 25.

Leaders Penrith travel to Middlesbrough while Morpeth host Durham City, Northern head to Keswick, South Shields Westoe welcome Percy Park and Carlisle take on Consett.

Upper Eden continued their unbeaten run in Conference 1 on February 18 witn a 0-43 win at Whitehaven, Cockermouth stay ten points behind with a 15-22 win over Wigton and Egremont’s struggles continued with a 12-24 loss at home to Millom.

It’s a battle between the top two as Cockermouth take on Upper Eden, Egremont will be looking for their first win since the league separated at home to Whitehaven and Millom head to Wigton.

In Conference 2 it was a trio of home wins on February 18 league leaders Hawcoat Park lost 31-10 at Penrith II, Creighton picked up a 24-0 win over St Benedicts and Silloth ran out 48-12 winners at home to Workington.

Two days of fixtures with Silloth taking on Creighton on Friday February 24 while Hawcoat Park face St Benedicts and Penrith II host Workington on Saturday February 25.
