A new blue neon glow coats the former Plaza Cinema site at Dunmail Park as renovations head towards there conclusion.

The Parkway Entertainment Company Ltd. founded in 1983, by Gerald Parkes and his wife Denise, have taken over the multi-screen cinema and have announced it will open in early 2023.

But are yet to announce an exact date.

Gerald Parkes sadly passed away in 2013 but the business continues to grow with Denise, sons Gerrard and Richard at the helm.

Parkway currently run 4 cinemas at Cleethorpes, Louth, Barnsley, and Beverley.

The Cleethorpes cinema was awarded best new UK cinema in early 2007, a few years after it opened in November 2004.

Which bodes well for their new site in Workington.

The former occupant Graves Ltd opened The Ritz Cinema, a three screen venue in the centre of Workington in 2021.
