Review: Violent Night Shows Why You Should Be On Santa’s Nice List

Violent Night could be the next classic Christmas movie you are looking for.

The synopsis for this film tells you what is going to happen on screen “when a group of mercenaries attack the estate of a wealthy family, Santa Claus must step in to save the day, and Christmas.”

If Home Alone and Die Hard had a baby and it was directed by Quentin Tarantino this would be the result.

The film doesn’t hide it either as there are references to both movies throughout and probably other Christmas movies, but they are the most obvious.

I liked Santa’s backstory in Violent Night, he was a Viking warrior with a hammer called Skull Crusher.

Santa is played by David Harbour (Stranger Things) and he is a good fit as this version of Santa.

The wealthy family is ran by a controlling Mother Gertrude (Beverly D’Angelo) and the leader of the robbers is played by John Leguizamo.

It is a fun movie but if it wasn’t a Christmas movie maybe it wouldn’t be as good.

My Rating: 7/10
