Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice Reveals 2022 Great North Runner Raised Over £30,000

Runners from across Cumbria are being invited to take on the Great North Run in 2023 and help support Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice as the charity reveals how much was raised by 2022’s runners.

It can now be revealed that the 2022 cohort of supporters who took part in the Great North Run for the hospice raised an incredible £30,426 and the charity has once again secured a number of places for the annual north-east-based half marathon in 2023.

Vicki Lesley, from the hospice’s fundraising team, said: “When you take part in an event such as the Great North Run it is not only a chance to challenge yourself and push your limits, but also to do something incredible for your local hospice and help us to continue caring for people in their time of need.

Taking place on Sunday, September 10, an estimated 57,000 runners will challenge themselves in “the world’s biggest and best half marathon” which is famous for its unbeatable atmosphere and the millions raised for good causes.

The much-loved charity which cares for adults with life-limiting illnesses from north Cumbria and children from all corners of the county, relies heavily on donations and support from local people to continue offering care to families at a time when they need it most.

It costs more than £4 million to run the charity with more than £3 million of that needing to be raised through fundraising initiatives, such as the Great North Run.
