Review: Three Thousand Years Of Longing

By Gary

The film tells the story of a lonely scholar, who on a trip to Istanbul discovers a Djinn, genie, who offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom and uses his three millennia to convince her to do so.

Three thousand years of longing is based upon the short story The Djinn in the Nightingale’s Eye by A.S. Byatt.

Three thousand years of longing is Aladdin but for adults.

Some of the CGI when Idris Elba was larger felt really off for me, but the rest of the movie was really well done.

The chemistry between Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba is pretty good, playing two lonely lost souls.

Tales of the Middle East, that are close to historic events, and a glimpse of other cultures that is still quite rare in the Western World.

My Rating: 8/10
