A hi-tech laser treatment being spearheaded across the UK by a Carlisle businesswoman has won a UK award for excellence.

The Emerald laser treatment is available in Cumbria at Carlisle-based VL Aesthetics, the only clinic in Cumbria offering the innovative fat loss treatment.

VL Aesthetics, owned by Vanessa Brown, was the first clinic in the UK to link up with global US company Erchonia to launch the treatment, and Vanessa is now UK Sales and Operations Manager for the company.

Her determination and hard work helped lead Erchonia to secure the Best Aesthetic Technology Award UK for the Emerald laser at the Safety in Beauty Awards.

The glittering awards ceremony took place on earlier in the month on December 3, at The Intercontinental Hotel, in Park Lane, London, and was attended by 750 cosmetic, aesthetic and beauty representatives and business owners.

The awards were created in 2014 to highlight those going the extra mile in pursuit of excellence and the highest standards of safety.

Vanessa said: “It was a competitive category filled with cutting edge technology, but we were absolutely delighted to win the Best Aesthetic Technology Award UK.

“We passionately believe in the Emerald laser as part of wider weight loss package, to help our clients at VL Aesthetics to not only achieve their goal but maintain it. 

“It is a huge honour to have the laser recognised at such a prestigious awards, and is testament to its success.”

The treatment is non-invasive and uses a low-level green laser to break down fat and shrink fat cells.

“The Emerald Laser is actually shrinking the fat cells and not destroying them,” explained Vanessa. “This is a much healthier effective way of reducing body fat compared to other methods such as fat freezing – that kills fat cells.”
