Bumper Start To North West Women’s Regional Football Leagues

The North West Women’s Regional Leagues continued with plenty fixtures played.

On Wednesday August 24 FC United of Manchester started their campaign at home to Curzon Ashton recoding a 4-0 win against the promoted side.

In Cheadle Town’s game they beat Crewe Alexander 2-0 to sit top on goal difference as Salford City beat West Didsbury & Chorlton AFC Women 2-0.

While Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies picked up their first points with a 3-0 win over Darwen FC Women.

The match between Wigan Athletic Ladies and Girls and Blackburn Community Sports Club Womens was postponed.

On Thursday August 25 Tranmere Rovers ran out 3-1 winners at home to Mossley Hill Athletic First Ladies.

On Wednesday 31 August Cheadle Town Stingers lost top spot after a 0-2 defeat to Curzon Ashton and drop to fourth.

Salford City take over after a 4-4 draw at Crewe Alexander with Tranmere Rovers second on goal difference with a 2-2 draw at West Didsbury.

A 0-2 win for FC United of Manchester at Mossley Hill moved them into third as Blackburn Community opened their account with a 0-3 win at Fleetwood.

The first game in September had Wigan Athletic Ladies and Girls getting their campaign underway with a home match against Darwen Ladies FC.

On Sunday September 4 Blackburn host Mossley Hill, Crewe Alexander play Tranmere, Darwen face Curzon Ashton, Salford take on Cheadle Town, West Didsbury are at home to FC United and Wigan face Fleetwood.

All matches are 14:00 (2:00pm) kickoff on Sunday.

In the Division One North midweek matches Chorley Women lost a seven goal thriller 3-4 to Penwortham Town with Preston North End getting a 4-2 win against Blackpool as Haslingden were beaten 2-3 by Accrington Stanley.

In two close games Sir Tom Finney sent Morecambe home with a 3-2 defeat and Penrith AFC and Carlisle United could not be separated with a 0-0 draw.

On Tuesday August 30 Accrington Stanley beat Chorley 1-0 to finish off their August fixtures.

The next day, Wednesday 31, another Cumbrian derby and the same result as Carlisle United and Workington Reds couldn’t be separated as Penwortham and Sir Tom Finney shared a 1-1 draw.

Morecambe were beaten 0-5 by Preston North End and Haslingden picked up a 1-0 home win against Bolton Wanderers.

At the weekend Bolton Wanderers are at home to Blackpool, Morecambe host Penwortham Town, Penrith AFC welcome Chorley to Cumbria, Preston North End take on Haslingden, Sir Tom Finney face Carlisle United and Workington Reds play Accrington Stanley.

Plenty of action in Division One South as on Wednesday August 24 BRNESC Ladies started their campaign with a 3-2 home win against Alder FC.

While Bury AFC won 4-0 against Wythenshawe Amateurs, Northwich Vixens won 2-1 against Altrincham FC as Warrington Wolves beat Hindley Juniors 3-1.

In the early top of the table clash between Poulton Vics and Chester FC it went the way of the visitors 3-6.

On Sunday August 28 the six sides in action could not be split as Altrincham drew 2-2 with BRNESC, Bury and Chester were 1-1 and Hindley held Warrington to a 3-3 draw.

Four more matches were played on Wednesday 31 as Chester won 4-1 against Northwich, Altrincham beat Wythenshawe 1-0 as Runcorn ran out 3-0 winners against Alder and Warrington beat BRNESC 4-2.

The first game of September took place on Thursday 1 with Hindley taking on Bury.

On Sunday September 4 Alder host Bury, Altrincham play Poulton Vics, BRNESC face Hindley, Northwich take on Warrington and Wythenshawe welcome Runcorn.
