National Conference League Heads Into Final Round

By Robert Haile

In the National Conference League automatic promotion places were confirmed and the playoffs are almost sorted.

Only two divisions were in action as the final league games in Premier and Third division will take place on Saturday September 3 along with divisions One and Two.

Two games in Division One and both have an impact on promotion and the playoffs.

On Wednesday August 24 Oulton Raiders finished their season with a 18-22 defeat at home to Wigan St Patricks.

Oulton Raiders sit on the same points as Skirlaugh but points difference puts the Raiders in seventh if Skirlaugh lose by 74 points they can take the final playoff place.

As long as Stanningley don’t pick up a point.

On Saturday August 27 Kells went back to the top with a 6-34 win over relegated Saddleworth Rangers.

The Cumbrian side will now wait on the result of Hull Dockers trip to Wigan St Patricks to see if they go up as League Winners.

In Division Two both automatic promotion places are sorted after Crosfields 52-6 win at home to Beverley on Wednesday August 24.

Beverley were back in action on Saturday August 27 travelling to playoff pushing Dewsbury Celtic where they picked up a 18-20 win.

Dewsbury Celtic need to win their last game and hope Woolston Rovers lose theirs to take the last playoff place.

In the other game Normanton Knights beat Hunslet Warriors 25-18 to keep the pressure on Barrow Island in third.
