Weather Causes Havoc In Cumbria Cricket League

The weather played its part as games started were started but had to be abandoned in the Cumbria Cricket League.

All stayed the same in the Premier Division as only one game survived.

In a short game Furness won the toss and put the visitors into bat, bowing Workington out for 63.

In reply Furness reached 66 to win with Liam Curwen scoring 38 and Pramod Maduwantha 21 to close the gap on the top three.

Only one game beat the weather in Division One and it was an important one.

Lindal Moor moved back to the top after bowling Millom out for 88 and then opening pair Bradley Stephens, 49 and Chris Scrogham 38 raced to 89 runs to win it for Lindal Moor.

In Division Two Vickerstown took advantage of Whitehaven 2nds game against Barrow being called off to go back to the top.

Putting the visiting side Cleator 2nds into bat they were set the target of 141 and in their innings Vickerstown did not hang around taking 21 overs to hit 142.

Haverigg 2nds’ innings beat the weather as they won the toss and batted first setting visitors Dalton 2nds 171 as Stewart Todhunter made 60 against Dalton’s bowlers as all six took wickets.

In reply the weather reduced Dalton’s innings to 26 overs and a 113 target but they struggled as Thomas Crowther took 5 wickets for 14 as Keith Gilliland score 31 not out as they finished on 71.

At Ulverston the first innings went to the home side after Lindal Moor 2nds won the toss and decided to field.

Bradley Marshall scored 55 as Ulverston were bowled out for 138 as Phil Wilson took 5 wickets for 6 runs.

Again the weather played apart reducing the target Lindal Moor making 93 from 28 overs to win.
