Promotions And Relegations Confirmed As National Conference League Heads Into Final Round

By Robert Haile

Judgement day arrived for some clubs in the National Conference League as relegation, promotion and playoff places were confirmed.

Starting in the Premier Division League champions West Hull’s 10-40 win at Pilkington Recs leaves the hosts needing a win from their final game to avoid relegation.

Hunslet Club Parkside need a point from their final game to confirm second place after a 42-0 win over Egremont Rangers while Lock Lane in third need to win and Hunslet loose after a 36-18 win against York Acorn, who also need a win from their last game as they currently occupy the last relegation place.

Fourth and fifth changed places on points difference after Thatto Heath Crusaders confirmed Thornhill Trojans relegation with a 76-4 win as Wath Brow Hornets recorded a 12-32 win at Leigh Miners Rangers.

Siddal’s 26-12 win against Rochdale Mayfield leaves them needing a win to avoid relegation.

The title goes down to the final game in Division One as Hull Dockers narrow 24-22 win against Oulton Raiders and Kells 38-12 win against Featherstone Lions also confirmed their promotion to the Premier Division.

In the battle for the final playoff place Ince Rose Bridge’s 32-8 win over Stanningley leaves them a point behind Oulton Raiders as Skirlaugh 34-4 win over Milford moves them into sixth.

West Bowling move above Wigan St Patricks into fourth after beating them 40-22 while Saddleworth Rangers beat Myton Warriors 24-22.

In Division Two the other promotion place is still up for grabs as Crosfields 42-38 win against Wigan St Judes and Barrow Island 20-10 win over Beverley keeps the gap at two points, though Crosfields can be promoted if they win their game in hand.

While Normanton Knights 34-22 defeat at Dewsbury Moor Maroons means they will finish no lower than fifth but can finish third if they win their game in hand after Clock Face Miners 22-22 draw with Woolston Rovers.

After Dewsbury Celtic’s 12-16 at Bradford Dudley Hill they are two points behind Woolston Rovers but have a game in hand in the battle for the final playoff place.

At the bottom Hunslet Warriors were unable to raise a team to face Heworth.

Promoted East Leeds and Waterhead Warriors take the Division Three title to the final game.

East Leeds lost their third game of the season 32-18 to Seaton Rangers while Waterhead Warriors won 84-16 against Millom.

In the playoff places Oldham St Annes 36-6 victory over Bentley keeps them in third ahead of Seaton Rangers and with Leigh East winning 23-16 against Batley Boys means Bentley need to win to take the final place ahead of Leigh East.

At the bottom Hensingham’s 22-26 win at Eastmoor Dragons means they are not mathematically in the bottom two as they need to win their last game and Batley Boys lose with a combined points swing of 165.
