Barrow Raiders Win Emotional Women’s Super League Match

It was an emotional game for Barrow Raiders Ladies as they faced Leigh Miners Rangers Ladies.

The game was in memory of Barrow Raiders Ladies assistant coach Alex Broadhead with players and coach, Amanda Wilkinson, paying their respects before the game on Sunday June 5.

In a dominant performance the Raiders recorded a 40-6 victory over Leigh Miners Rangers to make history with their first Women’s Super League win.

In the other games in Group 2 Wakefield Trinity lost 10-28 Bradford Bulls on Saturday June 4, while Warrington Wolves kept their title challenge up with a 0-48 win at Featherstone Rovers.

In Group 2 of the Women’s Super League Barrow will face Bradford Bulls, Castleford Tigers, Featherstone Rovers, Wakefield Trinty and fellow new team Leigh Miners Rangers.

In Group 1 Wigan Warriors recorded a 18-30 win at Huddersfield Giants while York City Knights made it three from three with a 24-10 win over Leeds Rhinos on Sunday 5.

Like in the Mens Super League the season will end with a playoff involving the top four from each Group with the Group 2 Shield Final to be played as part of a double header with the Group 1 Grand Final.

The winners of the Shield Final will be promoted to Group 1 for 2023 with no team being relegated to Group 2.
