‘As always, Up The Mont’ as Egremont Rangers Head Coach leaves after two years

Egremont Rangers are beginning the search for a new Head Coach as Danny Barker leave the role after two years.

The club took its Social Media page to make the announcement saying: “Egremont Rangers can confirm that Open Age Head Coach Danny Barker will be leaving his role after two seasons in charge.

“Although Danny was neither a Rangers junior nor a former player, he has very much become part of the Rangers family over the past two years and has been a well-liked and respected member of the club.

“Danny arrived with a wealth of experience from a long playing career in the semi-professional game.

“Despite being relatively new to coaching, he demonstrated maturity and professionalism beyond his coaching experience.

“The club would like to place on record its appreciation for Danny’s time, effort and commitment throughout his two seasons in charge.

“We thank Danny for his contribution to Egremont Rangers and wish him all the very best in his future endeavours.

“Thank you, Danny.”

Danny has left the club in the second tier of the National League having missed out in the National Division One playoffs with defeat to East Leeds.

Outgoing Head Coach Danny Barker said: “Unfortunately due to myself and the club having a different view and direction on the coming season, I have taken the decision to step down as head coach of Egremont Rangers, so they can advertise for my position.

“I’ve made the club, coaches and players aware of this decision this morning.

“I’d just like to thank everyone that turned up to support the team while I was there, you did really make a difference.

“This team has so much potential and is still so young, keep getting behind them from the Cowshed and I’ve no doubt success will follow soon.

“I’ve had an amazing 2 years coaching this group of players and hope people have enjoyed watching us play.

“Again thanks to everyone who has helped, supported, played, and back me I really do appreciate it.

“As always, Up The Mont.”

Rangers are now looking for a new Head Coach for the 2027 season as the teams involved in the division have been announced.

The new Head Coach will have the Cumbrian Derby with Kells to look forward to along with trips to relegated Rochdale Mayfield and Heworth and promoted Featherstone Lions.
