Lowside Parish Council held their annual general meeting (AGM) and looked at the previous year’s work.

Chair of the council, Councillor Kirstin Lang, issued a report that looked back at the previous twelve months of the council at the AGM meeting on Friday, June 26.

The report included some of the council’s spending with funding for new litter picking equipment to be purchased for the monthly beach cleans and for use around the parish.

They also got seven defibrillators installed after recieving funding from the GDF Community Partnership Fund.

Working with the North West Ambulance Service the defibrillators were installed giving visitors and residents a better chance of surviving a cardiac event.

Along with the installation of the defibrillators the ambulance service also provided CPR and defibrillator awareness sessions which were fully attended.

A letter of support was sent for an appliction to the GDF for a structural engineering survey on Braystones beachfront.

Councillors and residents attended a meeting with Network Rail after a crash at the Braystones crossing, to disscuss additional safety measures.

The Emergency Action Card for Sellafield has been put on display in the parish notice boards.

As part of the AGM normal council business was discussed with planning permission applications, installation of a new bench and replacment of a notice.

In a more unique peice of business six pairs of beavers are set for release on the River Ehen and Calder.
