Whitehaven and Workington MP, Josh MacAlister has called for any venue that can help to contact Egremont ABC as the club looks for a new home.

The boxing club has been based in the Egremont Conservative Club since opening in 2022.

On July 27, the club announced that they were having to look for a new venue.

A spokesperon for the club said: “This is a huge blow to everyone involved with the club, but our focus now is finding a new base so we can continue doing what we do best.

“For years, our club has been more than just a boxing gym.

“We’ve provided a safe, welcoming space where people of all ages can train, build confidence, develop discipline, and form lifelong friendships.

“We’ve worked hard to get young people off the streets and into a positive, structured environment that gives them purpose and opportunity.

“Without a permanent home, continuing that work simply isn’t sustainable.

“We’re reaching out to our amazing community for help.

“If you know of any premises, warehouse, unit, community building, or even a piece of land that could be suitable for Egremont ABC, please get in touch.

“Every lead, recommendation, and share could make all the difference.

“Together, we can help ensure Egremont ABC continues to be there for the people who need it most.”

The boxing club has been a part of the town since 2022 and has provided a space for children and adults to come socailise and learn.

One of the clubs boxers Billie Donaldson went into Europe to fight, taking part in the Golden Girls competition in Sweden.

The MP Josh MacAlister added his voice to the call saying: “I’m absolutely gutted that Egremont A.B.C have lost their venue and are at risk of closing if they don’t find a new space soon.

“This is a call for any venues in or around Egremont who can help to step up and support this fantastic local boxing club to keep going.”
