A man from Scotland has been charged after a vehicle he was travelling in was stopped with over 2kg of cocaine inside.

Cumberland’s Community and Serious Organised Crime (CSOC) Officers stopped the vehicle near Carlisle on July 8, and upon a search of his vehicle, located 2kg of cocaine with a street value of around £160,000.

Also recovered was over £2000 in cash.

Grant Robertson, aged 49 of Hillcrest, Fife was charged last week with:

• possession with intent to supply cocaine
• possession of criminal property
• driving whilst disqualified and with no insurance

He appeared before Carlisle Magistrates Court on July 9, and has been remanded into custody.

The seizure forms part of an investigation by Cumberland’s CSOC team to target the transportation of class A drugs across the UK.
