St Mary’s Hospice is encouraging its supporters to help strengthen its fundraising efforts by inviting just one additional person to become a regular giver this as part of Ask One Friend Month.
The local charity that supports adults with any advancing illness across Furness and South Lakes, relies heavily on charitable donations to deliver essential care across local communities.
Currently, 8 out of 10 patients supported by St Mary’s Hospice receive care funded by voluntary donations and monthly giving remains critical to maintaining its services.

Christine Linton, St Mary’s Individual Giving Fundraiser, said: “Our amazing monthly supporters make our work possible.
“Without their ongoing generosity, we simply couldn’t provide the level of care that so many people depend on.
“By asking just one other person to join as a regular giver, our supporters can help us extend that impact even further.”
Ask One Friend Month also aims to start conversations around charitable giving in general and to encourage more people to consider donating to a cause close to them.
Christine added: “We’re asking existing supporters to share their reasons for giving with a friend, family member or colleague during everyday conversations throughout June.
“And when someone hears about our work from a person they trust, it means so much more.
“Every donation, no matter the size, helps us plan ahead and continue delivering care without interruption.”
St Mary’s Hospice says that if each of its regular supporters inspired just one additional person to give, the cumulative impact would significantly strengthen its ability to care for patients and families in need.
The charity also has regular fundraising events throughout the year with the Vattenfall Tour De Furness taking place at the end of June.
