West Cumbria Bowls Leagues: Knockout Cup as top three breakaway in Fours

The first round of the Knockout Cup was played as the top three in the Fours League breakaway from the rest of the league.

Cumbria’s Johns Trophy team started their competition as they welcomed Northumberland.

West Cumbria Fours League

Leaders Whitehaven A racked up their fifth maximum of the season as they dispatched Workington B 7-0 on Friday, June 5.

Keswick side Fitz Park held onto second as they won 7-0 at home to Whitehaven B as defending champions Workington A beat Cleator Moor 7-0 to sit in third with six points separating the top three.

Both Seaton and Maryport moved up the table ahead of Workington B but it was the Maryport team that did this with a 5-2 win.

Vulcan Park stay joint bottom after a 7-0 defeat at Cockermouth’s Harris Park.

The top and bottom two meet on Friday, June 12, as Whitehaven A host Fitz Park while Vulcan Park welcome Whitehaven B.

Third placed Workington A face a tricky test at Maryport.

Cleator Moor are on the road to Seaton as Workington B face Harris Park as the battle for fifth heats up.

West Cumbria Mixed Triples League

The Knockout Cup started on Tuesday, June 2, with 2025 champions Wigton through after a 9-0 win against Vulcan Park A as their B team also lost 9-0 to Whitehaven B.

2025 beaten finalists Workington A are through after a 7-2 win at Cleator Moor.

Whitehaven A progressed with a 7-2 against Maryport while Harris Park A joined their B team in the quarterfinals with a 5-4 over Workington B.

It is three Cockermouth teams through as Croft beat Egremont 5-4.

The league returns to the fore on Tuesday, June 9, as leaders Harris Park A host Vulcan Park B while second placed Cleator Moor face Workington A and third placed Workington B face Harris Park B.

Whitehaven A make the trip to Workington to face Vulcan Park A while Whitehaven B host Maryport.

Cockermouth side Croft travel to Egremont while Seascale take on Seaton.

Cumbria County Teams

The inter-county competition is well underway now as the Cumbria Johns Trophy team took to the green on Saturday, June 6.

In the four team league the Cumbrians welcomed Durham and sent them away with an 18-4 (101-92) defeat.

The other match had Northumberland, Cumbria’s next opponent, beating Yorkshire 18-4 (98-87).
