A woman in her 70s has died after she and her grandchild were struck by a motorbike while crossing a road in Cleator Moor.
At around 4:45pm on Tuesday, May 26, police responded to reports of a crash involving an elderly woman in Cleator Moor.
The incident occurred on Ennerdale Road when a woman, in her 70s, was crossing the road with her grandchild when they were struck by a motorbike.
Emergency services attended but the woman died at the scene.
The child was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Police arrested three men – all from West Cumbria and aged in their 20s – on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
All three men remain in police custody on Wednesday, May 27.
Police believe the motorbike was in convoy with two quad bikes leading up to the crash.
Police have launched an appeal for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
