Supermarket fails to Challenge 25 as Cumbria Police Cadets used in test purchases

A Supermarket failed to check the age customers as Cumbria Police carried out a series of test purchases.

South Lakes Neighbourhood Policing Team collaborated with Kendal Police Cadets to carry out test purchases in Kendal.

Three supermarkets were visited and attempts were made to purchase bladed articles from the stores.

Two under 18s Cadets attempted to purchase bladed articles within the stores to see if the policies around Challenge 25 were implemented and being adhered to.

A spokesperson said: “Two stores passed and one store failed.

“All stores have been informed of the operation and given advice around Challenge 25.”
