Off to the Local: All you need to know ahead of Whitehaven’s new music festival this weekend

A new free live music festival featuring dozens of acts across pubs and venues in Whitehaven is set to take place this weekend.

Off to the Local, organised by Off The Pier, will take place on Saturday, May 16, with performances happening throughout the day and into the evening at venues across the town.

Here is everything you need to know.

Do I need tickets?

No. Organisers say the festival is completely free to attend and no tickets or wristbands are required.

Information shared online stated: “Just turn up, support your local venues, and enjoy the music.”

When does it start?

Events begin from 10am on Saturday morning.

TEG Markets will kick things off on King Street from 10am, while Solway Shanty Crew are due to perform at the marketplace stand.

Colours Cafe will also host live music from 10am.

The first pub performance of the day is due to begin at The Yellow Earl, where Oscar is scheduled to perform from 12.45pm.

Do you have to stay in one venue?

No. Organisers say the idea behind the festival is for people to move around the town throughout the day and discover different artists and venues.

Can under-18s attend?

Organisers say they have tried to make the event available to everyone, but normal pub entry rules may apply later in the evening at some venues.

People under the age of 18 are advised to ask venues on entry.

Which venues are involved and what is the line-up?
