West Cumbria Bowls Leagues: Whitehaven take top spot in both Fours and Triples League

The West Cumbria Triples League got underway as Whitehaven take top spot in both the Triples and West Cumbria Fours leagues.

Whitehaven’s A team sit top of both leagues after the most recent round of games with Cleator Moor sitting second.

West Cumbria Fours League

Playing early on Wednesday, April 29, Workington B left Cleator Moor with no points as the host won 7-0 with one rink taking it by a shot on the last end.

On May 1, Whitehaven A stormed to the top of the table with a 7-0 home win over Vulcan Park while Maryport lost 7-0 at Harris Park, Cockermouth.

Workington A and Fitz Park along with Seaton and Whitehaven B will have to be arranged for another date in the future.

Whitehaven A will be looking to keep hold of their place on top of the pile when they face their B team on May 8.

Cleator Moor welcome Maryport and Workington A take on their B team.

Seaton travel to Harris Park and Vulcan Park face Fitz Park.

West Cumbria Mixed Triples League

The Mixed Triples League started on Tuesday, April 28, as the A teams faced their B teams.

Whitehaven A went top with a 7-2 win over their B team as Workington A also took a 7-2 win to go third.

In their centenary year it Park A took a 5-4 win against their B team as the Workington club celebrated.

Harris Park A were beaten 5-4 by their B team despite taking the overall points.

Cleator Moor traveled to Cockermouth on and came away with a 5-4 win over the hosts .

Defending champions Maryport made the trip to Wigton and were beaten 7-2 as Seascale’s trip to Egremont was a nail biter as it came down to the last bowl as the hosts took the overall by one shot to win 5-4

Seaton get their season underway on May 5 as they welcome Wigton.

Whitehaven A host Croft as Workington A play Harris Park A and Cleator Moor face Egremont.

Vulcan Park A head to Maryport while Vulcan Park B play Whitehaven B and Seascale welcome Workington B.
