Two children were taken to hospital with injuries following a serious crash in West Cumbria.
At around 5:58pm on Saturday, April 18, a crash was reported on Senhouse Street, in Maryport.
The crash involved a police vehicle and two pedestrians, children of secondary school age.
One victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries and is described as in a critical but stable condition.
The other suffered minor injuries and has now been discharged from hospital.
The police vehicle was not in pursuit or responding to an emergency incident at the time of the crash.
Police launched an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash, police said.
Senhouse Street remained closed while investigative enquiries were conducted.
The incident has also been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, which is standard practice.
Superintendent Sarah Jones, Cumbria Constabulary said: “Our thoughts are with the two young people involved in this incident and their families.
“Officers are continuing to carry out enquiries to fully understand the circumstances, and we would encourage anyone with information to come forward.
