Cockermouth Garden Trail to raise money for The Children’s Society

Gardening lovers are invited to take a wander around 12 of the prettiest outdoor spaces and raise money for The Children’s Society in the process.

The Cockermouth Garden Trail takes place on Saturday, July 12, between 1pm and 5pmand tickets cost just £7.50.

The gardens range from community planting spaces at Hames Hall nursing home and Croftside, to private homes across the town.

There is also the chance to catch up with the team from Cumbria Master Composters who will be setting out their stall at The Vicky shared workspace on High Sand Lane.

The ticket price includes a town map and a brew, as well as garden descriptions and a children’s game which invites them to ‘spot the Beatrix Potter character’.

Cockermouth Girl Guides have also provided cakes and bakes to buy.

Joe Murray is the manager of The Children’s Society shop on Main Street and is also the co-chair of Cockermouth & District Chamber of Trade.

He said: “Who doesn’t love to have a little nosy at other people’s gardens when they’re in full bloom in the Summer? You can get some design ideas, pick up some tips and just enjoy the great outdoors. We’re really hoping for some good weather too!

“And, by joining this Garden Trail, you’re helping our charity’s work to support and empower young people and give them a future to look forward to.”

Tickets are on sale now from Cockermouth shops – The Children’s Society, The Linden Tree and Goody2Shoes, or any of the gardens on the day.

It’s cash only and under-16s go free.
