The candidates for the by-election in Egremont have been announced.

On Thursday, April 24, voters in the ward of South Egremont will be voting for a new Town Councillor.

The by-election has been called by the resignation of long serving Town and former Copeland Borough Councillor Michael McVeigh.

The three candidates are:

Reform UK – Christopher John Colley

Conservative – Jeffery Hailes

Labour – Janette Ruth Tear

Anyone in the Egremont South ward is being encouraged to register to vote.

Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on Friday, April 4.

Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Monday, April 7.
