West Cumbria Bowls Leagues: Workington Miss Out On Triple As Croft Take Knockout Cup

The Mixed Triples title went down to the final game with Workington taking it on shot difference.

In the Knockout Cup final Croft beat Workington in a close final with both teams finishing on 66 shots the Cockermouth side won two rinks to take the final 5.5 – 3.5.

West Cumbria Mixed Triples League

The Triples League came to a tense conclusion as Whitehaven A finished the season with 83 points and 272 shot difference, in their last game Workington pipped their title rivals by 53 shots to claim the league double.

At the bottom Egremont couldn’t get the points required to move above Vulcan Park as the side swap places from 2023.

Croft could take third when they face Whitehaven B in the final game of the season.

Cumbria’s Women took part in the Northern Counties championships on September, Sunday 8.

In a successful day Jaqueline Lee and Alison Hullock, and Jeanette Bell, Abbie Bowe, Penny Peile and Nicola Bowe were winners Pairs and Fours.

While Workington’s Tina Smitham was finalist in Singles and Sue Devlin, Dorothy Boyle and Cath Robson lost by 1 shot in the semifinal of the Triples.
