A West Cumbrian primary school has confirmed it will be closed due to a gas leak as engineers work to locate its source.
Thornhill Primary School will be closed on Monday, July 8, following a gas leak discovered on Friday, July, 5.
In a statement on social media, the school announced the building would be closed to students and staff, as work continues to locate the source of the leak.
The statement read: “Due to engineers being unable to locate the source of the gas leak discovered on Friday afternoon, school will be CLOSED on Monday 8th July to staff and children. Specialist engineers will be back in school tomorrow to work on the problem and make school safe.”
It continued to say staff hoped for the school to reopen on Tuesday, July 10.
“We will keep you updated and hopefully be open as normal on Tuesday. Thank you for your understanding and support,” it read.
