‘Dangerous’ Child Sex Offender Gets Life Sentence For Carlisle Kidnap And Sexual Assault

A “dangerous” child sex offender has received a life sentence for kidnap and sexual assault in Carlisle.

James William, of no fixed address was in court for kidnap, kidnap a person with intent to commit a relevant sexual offence, sexually assaulting a boy under 13 by touching and breach of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

The 34-year-old committed the offences against a young boy, in August 2022, in the Denton Holme area of Carlisle, a court heard.

William pleaded guilty at a hearing on 20 February 2024.

He was the then given a life sentence, on May 2, for kidnap and sex offences.

William must serve a minimum of fours years eight months before being considered for release.

The investigating officer in this case was Detective Constable Chloe King, of Cumberland CID.

Following William’s sentencing, DC King said “William is a dangerous offender who is now behind bars.

“This was a terrifying incident for the victim and his family, and I hope today’s sentence brings them some closure.

“I would like to reassure our communities that incidents of this nature are extremely rare.”
