New Signing For Workington Comets As Troy Batchelor Joins

Australian Troy Batchelor has been announced as the sixth member of the 2024 Workington Comets.

Batchelor is an experienced rider with a vast experience of UK tracks having started in 2005 with Kings Lynn, completing the Premier League treble in 2006.

In 2014 he claimed the Elite League Riders title and in 2017 the Victorian Individual Championship.

Workington Speedway promoter Andrew Bain tips Batchelor for a fantastic season with the Comets saying: “Troy along with Cookie will bring a huge amount of experience to our team for 2024 and we’re delighted Troy is Comet for 2024, I can only see him kicking onto the rider everyone knows he is capable of at Northside.

“We have three riders in the team so far who have yet to have any knowledge of the tracks in the UK so Troy’s experience in the team is our trump card.

“He and Craig will be able to pass on their knowledge and experience to the younger and newer members of the league.

“Troy has seen on social media the exciting things happening here at Workington and he is thrilled to be involved in our New Era of Speedway.”

A former Grand Prix rider having made his first appearance in 2013 as a substitute before earning a full entry in 2014-15.

Troy joins the GT Tyres Comets with an average of 7.16, this leaves 6.32 for the final rider to make up our 2024 septet.
