A Game of Thrones star is heading to Whitehaven to celebrate his whisky brand and share his passion for the drink.
Whitehaven is no stranger to a celebrity or two making an appearance on its Georgian streets but this time the Hollywood actor, James Cosmo, known for his role as Jeor Mormont in the hit HBO show Game of Thrones, will be heading to Richardson’s Fine Wine and Coffee Merchants to promote his whisky brand, Storyman.
The 76-year-old Braveheart actor will be at the wine merchants on December 8 – coinciding with with townās Christmas traders market.

Speaking to The Herdwick News, Richardsonās owner, Gerard Richardson MBE, said he is āthrilled, excited and ever so nervousā to host the Trainspotting star.
He said: āWeāve had many celebrities in the shop over the years and we’ve also had as many celebrity clients, but even our crazy shop has never had a Hollywood actor.
āJames is a lovely chap who is passionate about his whisky and to be honest, we are just lucky he picked our shop as a great wee place to come and spread the story. Louise and I are thrilled, excited and ever so nervous and we just hope people come in to buy his whisky. It is gorgeous by the way, soft and lush with vanilla.ā
Cosmo launched the Scotch whisky, Storyman, this year after partnering with Annandale Distillery and was created by Keith Law, Annandaleās master blender, and owner Professor David Thomson.
Speaking to The Spirits Business, Cosmo said: āItās always been a dream of mine to create my own whisky. The kind of whisky that is delicate, complex, and with a warmth that grows on you.
āI always believed it would be just a dream until during filming and production of the film Outlaw King, a film about the King of Scotland, Robert the Bruce.
āI became aware of Annandale Distillery, steeped in history and located in the heart of Bruceās land. I met the team and was impressed by their passion for whisky, the creation of a good dram, and that spoke to me, it really hit home.ā
James Cosmo will be promoting Storyman Scotch whisky at Richardson’s Fine Wine and Coffee Merchants, in Whitehaven, on December 8 between 1pm and 4pm.
