Cumbria Police has said they are ‘increasing patrols’ as they watch the ‘developing situation in Israel and Gaza’.
The Palestinian militant group Hamas launched an assault on Israel on Saturday, October 5.
It’s reported more than 900 Israelis have been killed, while others, including women and children are now being held captive.
Alongside this, more than 700 Palestinians were killed due to the air strikes on Gaza carried out by the Israeli military.
Following this Cumbria Police has released a statement saying they understand many people will be affected by, including many in Cumbria and will now increase patrols within the community.
They said: “As a Constabulary we are watching the developing situation in Israel and Gaza.
“We recognise that there will be many people who are affected.
“We are increasing patrols within our local communities and are engaging with community groups and partners.
“We have zero tolerance for any hate crime.
“If you have been victim to a hate crime or witnessed a hate crime, please report this to us.”
