Whitehaven AFC Ladies Blue have taken over at the top of the Andrea Buggy Women’s League.

Whitehaven AFC Blue faced the long trip to Whitehaven AFC Yellow on Wednesday May 10 and went top of the table with a 0-3 win.

A 6 goal thriller had Newlaithes move into joint second with Xtreme Fitness with a 4-2 win.

Newlaithes opened the scoring with Kerri Mallinson finding the back of the net in the first five minutes and Stacey Harkness-Grant adding a second before a Tiffany Lamb double for Xtreme ties the match at 2-2.

Paige Williams’ free kick was saved but Chelsea Murry followed up to make it 3-2 and later add her second with a long range free kick to finish the scoring.

It was a high five for Abbeytown as they ran out 5-1 winners at home to Carlisle United Ladies Development with Kaye Beaty hitting four for Abbeytown and Sheila Paisley adding to the total.

Penrith AFC Rubies returned to action with a 4-1 against Vickerstown as Workington Diamonds put five past Stanwix to take a 5-1 victory.

Fourth plays fifth as Penrith face Whitehaven AFC Yellow on Wednesday May 17.

The top three are in action as leaders Whitehaven Blue host Allerdale Wildcats while Newlaithes travel to Vickerstown and Xtreme Fitness take on Carlisle United Development.

In a battle at the bottom Abbeytown welcome Stanwix.

All matches are a 7:15pm (19:15) kickoff.
