Windscale AFC Take On Darlington Town In Alan Hood Charity Cup

The league season has finished and all eyes now turn to cup finals with Windscale AFC facing Darlington Town in the Alan Hood Charity Cup.

The final taking place at the Falcon Complex on Saturday May 13, 2:30pm (14:30) kickoff, will be a difficult encounter for Windscale AFC who finished eighth as Darlington Town fell short in second, three points off FC Hartlepool.

The two sides have met twice in the Wearside First Division this season with Darlington Town getting the better in both matches with a 4-0 home win on March 4 and a 1-5 victory October 12.

The sides cup runs look very different.

The first round game for Darlington Town took place on September 3 with a 3-0 win at home to Durham Corinthians.

Windscale AFC’s cup run almost finished in the first round when they went to South Moor AFC on August 13 where they were held to a 2-2 draw before advancing 3-4 in a penalty shootout.

Another close second round game on November 12 ended with Windscale AFC progressing with a 4-3 win over FC Hartlepool.

Darlington put seven passed Wolviston in their second round game on January 7 as they won 7-1.

In the first semifinal on January 21 Windscale AFC beat Silksworth Colliery Welfare 1-0 while on February 25 Darlington Town ran out 4-1 winners against Shildon AFC Reserves to set up the final.

Windscale AFC missed out on a second cup final going out on penalties to FC Hartlepool in the semifinal of the Monkwearmouth Charity Cup.

While Darlington Town could make it a cup double as they face FC Hartlepool on Saturday May 20 in the Shipowners Charity Cup final.
