The Marathon Man 365 Challenge charity campaign has been shortlisted for the Prolific North Champions Awards 2023.
Gary McKee, who ran a marathon every day in 2022, and creative digital agency Platinum Live are up for ‘Not-for-Profit Campaign of the Year’ at the up for the prestigious award ceremony, it was confirmed today, Thursday, March 6, on social media, during which Platinum Live said they’re ‘very excited’.
In 2022 Gary ran the equivalent of a marathon for 365 consecutive days in a bid to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and Hospice at Home West Cumbria – and managed to fundraise over £1 million.
Platinum Live, and its founder and director, 19-year-old Oliver Hodgesong, ran the campaign for Gary making sure the news of his amazing feat reached far and wide and garnered the right attention in order to raise as much money as possible.
The Marathon Man 365 Challenge campaign has been shortlisted in the ‘Not-For-Profit Campaign of the Year’ at the Prolific North Champions Awards that celebrates top talent across the North’s thriving creative, digital, tech, media and marketing sectors.
The eight others shortlisted in the category include:

Speaking to The Herdwick News Gary praised the work of Oliver – and his company Platinum Live he created from the ground up when he wasn’t even 18 years old.
He said: “From the moment I met Oliver at Platinum Live I knew the PR side of the challenge was in the best hands possible. He built a platform from the beginning and raised the bar continuously culminating in achieving all of our objectives. Platinum Live will be looking after all my future challenges.”
The Prolific North Champions Awards take place on May 18, 2023, at Emirates Old Trafford, The Point.
