At the event, guests had the special chance to be thrust into the story of Merge Mansion by entering a real-life version of the Boulton family mansion where they were tasked with finding clues, solving puzzles and working together with the hopes of finding out exactly what Grandma Ursula is hiding.
In anticipation of the update, Metacore partnered with Pedro Pascal for the release of a new viral ad campaign, which has been viewed collectively nearly 37M times and counting since its initial release on March 10, called A Twisted Game.
Merge Mansion also released two additional shorts featuring Pascal called Think Like a Grandma and A Recipe to Die For. In the shorts, Pascal takes on the role of Detective Tim Rockford as he tries to uncover the mysteries of the Boulton family and Grandma Ursula.
The company is characterised by their focus on metagame development and they have multiple autonomous teams working side by side on new game concepts. Metacore is founded by Mika Tammenkoski and Aki Järvilehto, who both have over 20 years of experience in the games industry.
“Merge Mansion has created a fascinating story centred around family drama filled with mystery and secrets that has captivated fans all around the world through their entertaining and unpredictable video campaigns,” said Pascal.
“Making this short film for Merge Mansion was truly a unique experience and I had so much fun working with Martin to fulfill his vision and bring the lore of Merge Mansion to life. From the first day, it was clear how much love and passion the group at Metacore has for its characters and this game and I’m happy that I got to be a part of their next big moment.”
