Here is the date for your diaries not to miss – the Zebra’s are heading to the capital.
Monday May 1, Workington Ladies v Avonmouth Ladies, Twickenham Stadium London.
Two tries from Megan Donald, a penalty and conversion from Nicole Stewart gave the Workington side a 15-10 win over Lichfield Green.
Donald powered over in the final minutes of the game to start the celebrations and Stewart added the extra points to cement the Finches trip to London.
In the other semi final Avonmouth squeezed past Welwyn Ladies 36-39.
The Shirehampton, Bristol side went out of the Junior Cup with a 10-22 loss to Dings Crusaders before a 17-62 win over Hardwicke & Quedgeley and 12-43 victory over Barnes Women II set up the semifinal with Welwyn Ladies.
The Finches journey started back on September 18 with a trip to Skipton Ladies and a 57-10 defeat in the Women’s Cup moved the West Cumbrian side into the Plate competition.
They then beat Old Brodleians Ladies 21-5 were awarded the win against Scarborough Valkyries and then met Penrith Ladies on February 5.
Tries from Thornbery, Donald and Whelan took Workington through to the semifinal with 17-5 win over their East Cumbrian rivals.
The 15-10 victory over Lichfield will now give the Finches a chance at national silverware.
